I Canadiens non si fermano più. Dopo aver eliminato i Washington Capitals di Ovechkin, fuori anche i Pittsburgh Penguins di Sid Crosby. I canadesi dominano gara-7, portandosi a metà del secondo periodo sul 4-0 sul ghiaccio dei campioni in carica. Pittsburgh reagisce, segnando due reti, ma alla fine il successo va agli ospiti: 5-2 per Montreal, testa di serie n.8 a Est. "E' incredibile, non riesco a mettere assieme le parole adesso", commenta il difensore Josh Gorges. L'avventura va avanti.
Va avanti anche la serie tra Philadelphia e Boston. I Flyers vincono in casa gara-6 e si portano sul 3-3. I padroni di casa si impongono con le reti del capitano Richards e di Briere.
